Today is the first day of class.
I didn't realize how much uncertainty would accompany graduate school. I resigned from a full-time position [at a great organization] to pursue a "dream" that only came to fruition during the last twelve months of my life. I have not always wanted to be a graphic designer; actually, I first wanted to be a zoologist, and then a journalist, and then a museum curator. I somehow, however, managed to arrive at this place - sitting at my desk, unemployed, writing a blog about "life and design" and hoping that I made the right decision.
I am not one to regret, but I am prone to anxiety - so, I have no doubt that I will over analyze this decision until it becomes my new normal. In the mean time, I want to thank my parents, my siblings, and my little family (Jeffrey, Toby, Leo, and Chance) for their unbelievable capacity to love - and for entertaining all of my ventures with an unwavering "you can do anything you want to do" attitude.
Wish me luck -
Wish me luck -
Note about the photo: during my last year of undergrad, my parents gave me a class ring as a symbol of their congratulations and well-wishes for the future. Last weekend, they gave me a silver band as a token of support - both rings bear an inscription.

I am so very proud of you, sister. I love your drive to live your best life, for reaching for the stars and knowing which ones are meant for you. This all takes a sense of self that it takes most a lifetime to figure out!
Your doting sister,
xoxo

LOVE this post. Could not agree with you more on a freakishly large number of levels. Love the "support" ring given to you by your parents; so very precious, you will cherish that for a lifetime!
