Orange You Glad

Orange you glad it's almost Halloween?

I thought I'd share some personal moments from this year's Halloween preparation. I think I love the color scheme more than the actual holiday. Is that so wrong?

thank you cards sent out for my birthday gifts
Yep, that's right, I turned 25 on October 15. Now, THAT is scary!
I hope you have enjoyed this month's celebratory traditions and good eats. Here's to a warm fire, candy corn, and a spooky Halloween. Be safe tomorrow night!

Etsy Find

Wild Animal 2012
In preparation for the new year, I thought I'd share another calendar that has me excited about 2012. Loopz [handmade for all ages] is an Etsy shop that I keep going back to. With a big family, it is always good to have a reliable place to go to for gifts, child-like inspiration, and quality craftsmanship. Below are some details from one of the many Loopz calendars that I have my eye on.

Tuesday Tip

Pinterest
This is more for me than it is for you. I'm sure you wash out your peanut butter jar, rinse out your orange juice container, and recycle every piece of junk mail that enters your home. Well, I have to admit - I don't. At least, not every time. So, tonight's tip is simple: Recycle - it's good for the planet and it's the right thing to do. Below are some images that I find encouraging; a slight push in a greener direction. Here's to a healthy planet for our children.

Photo Diary [30 Days]

I have been going back and forth about this blog for a while now; trying to find a balance between WYWH, design, and my personal life. In an effort to streamline things a bit, I've decided to post a photo diary once a month. Thirty days and the little moments that I want to remember; a way to document my personal memories and keep in touch with you. I hope you enjoy - below are a few moments from my life, September 9 - October 9, 2011.

Wishing you were here.

Holiday Details

The Glamourai
Ready or not, the holidays are right around the corner.

This year, the holiday season will coincide with my preparation for graduate school. The winter term begins on January 9; therefore, I have been searching for DIY alternatives to all things "holiday". I thought I'd share some of the ideas and projects that I am currently considering for holiday cards, decor, and gifts. (Like the above "Candied Crumbcatcher" necklace - DIY tutorial here.)

DIY Tea Bags
A Beautiful Mess - Tutorial
Eat Drink Chic - Gift Tags
Yellow Owl Workshop via Design Sponge
Sending out holiday cards is a tradition that I adore, and one that WYWH is very much looking forward to. Know that we would love to work with you this season to put together something special and meaningful for your friends and family.

Ampersandity
Oh Happy Day
Sunset - Tutorial
I plan on re-creating one of the above beauties for my own holiday cards this year (thank you, blogosphere, for your continual and always-crafty inspiration). If only I had a letterpress - - deep sigh, a girl can dream, right?

Below are a few more gift ideas that I am considering. If you play your cards right, you may find one of these under your tree.

Lowe's Soap Tutorial
Elizabeth Anne Designs - DIY Tutorial
Not sure if you've noticed the price of wrapping paper lately, but it is kind of expensive, and not the most eco-friendly practice. So, I think it's time to consider some alternatives.

Momtastic - DIY Wrapping Paper
Un-ruly Things
As far as friends and co-workers go, I hope to try my hand at homemade candies. You can't really go wrong with sweets, right?

Not Without Salt
Judicial Peach
As you can see, I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season of craft making and gift giving. 2012 is going to bring with it some much needed fresh air and a new sense of self. I can't wait to wrap up this year with some cold weather, family, and yummy treats. Enjoy!
