Tuesday Tip

Raise your hand if you are "right-brained".

Are we all here? Okay, forever I have blamed my inability to solve algebraic equations, memorize the periodic table, think rationally, etc., on the fact that I think and act with the right side of my brain. Hence, I find great pleasure and entertainment in infographics; or, visual representations of data and information.

With the holiday season looming, and in keeping with the WYWH Tuesday tradition, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you a lovely infographic I came across on my personal finance website, Mint. (This website is a "tip" in and of itself, however, I am in no place to be handing out financial advice.) So, sit back, take a break from the summer heat, and enjoy a well illustrated holiday tip from me creative and well qualified financial advisors.

I Do Accessories

Most wedding trends I can do without, however, there is one that has recently stolen my heart: those beautiful brides that walk down the aisle adorned with bold, chunky accessories.

Tuesday Tip

Here's a tip... before starting a DIY project, make sure the instructions are in your native language.

Kuchnia Pelna Cudow
Despite the language barrier, I'm in love. These DIY blooms are made of hand dyed coffee filters. See full tutorial here

Handmade paper and fabric flowers are a brilliant alternative to the traditional floral arrangement.

Hessian Cloth

Hessian a.k.a Burlap

Design Sponge
Burlap is back. (Was it ever in? I'm not sure, but who cares! It's here now.) Recently, I have noticed bits of burlap detail every where. It adorns wedding decor, party favors, invitations, gift packaging, interior accessories, etc. And, well, I have to admit -- I don't hate it.

Oh So Beautiful Paper

Courtney O'Dell
Burlap is one of the most charming and cost-effective products to use for a DIY designed event. It's inexpensive, easy to find, textured, and best of all - it can be sewn on, written on, stepped on, and glued on.

Burlap cleans up well, right?

I can't help but wonder if this rugged fabric secretly longs for the good ole' days. Remember?

Here's  to you, Burlap Sack.

May you never be forgotten. Love -

Tuesday Tip

Tuesday Wednesday Tip

I hate excuses, but I have a good one: Jeffrey and I were out late last night buying the unicorn of all juicers. (I would divulge the make and model, but I'm embarrassed by how much we paid for it. So, I will save that post for a later day when the guilt has worn off.) We recently watched the documentary, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead and have since been obsessed with the health benefits of juice fasting and detoxing. Don't worry, that's not my "Tuesday Tip" - I won't try to sell you on the idea, but it does bring up a few good "healthy living" tips that I recently came across on Pinterest (via this blog) that are worth sharing:

Here's to living a healthy life, inside and out.

Tuesday Tip

"Which fork do I use?"

Despite the fact that I only own enough flatware for one of these place settings, I have to believe that this photo reference will come in handy one day.

You Are Not A Tree

I came across this magical list of words to live by on May 5, 2011 at 9:55 PM. I know this, because I immediately e-mailed it to sister with a message reading,

"MUST READ, PRINT, AND ADHERE TO A WALL."

Above is the message I am repeating to myself this week.

So, dear readers, if you haven't done so already, click here for said list of lovely advice. And if you feel so inclined; read, print, and adhere.

Tuesday Tip

People have the best ideas.

The above DIY bakery display is courtesy of a lovely blog I have recently become acquainted with through Pinterest. Ingenious, right?

I know, when I hear "DIY tutorial" - I think paper cuts, glue guns, and glitter. However, be not afraid. The blogosphere is swimming with charming tutorials, that often produce accessories straight out of an Anthro catalogue. Below are some DIY projects that are currently on my To-Do list.

You can never go wrong with found objects.

The projects featured above, on the left and the right, seem natural to the space- yet still have the "DIY feel" that is so utterly charming.

Now, honestly, I am not even sure if we can call the above wine rack a "project", but I am pretty sure that is the beauty of it.

On your way out, check out my favorite DIY resource. The before-and-after section will have you entertained for hours.

Inspired yet? Enjoy!

Occam's Razor

This message is in honor of my uber rationale, biologist boyfriend, Jeffrey, who lives each day by this oh-so-logical theory.

"The simplest explanation is often the best one."

God love him, here's to listening to the left side of our brain every once and a while.
